Cllr Michael Wyatt has once again called upon the Leicestershire County Council Highway Officers to look at installing pedestrian crossings at the Meadow Lane Cross Roads. Michael will again be submitting another petition urging action to be taken before someone is killed.

Cllr Michael Wyatt said, “I find it absolutely disgusting that still we are waiting for the officers to do something about the cross roads. The Tory Bosses at the Council and our ‘do nothing Labour County Councillor’ should be ashamed of themselves. If there is a serious accident we all know who to blame. I along with local residents who live in the area want action, not empty promises.”

Cllr Michael Wyatt has today spoken at length with Officers at the council about the current map showing the potential proposed housing sites, which includes the Rugby Club and Sharpley Avenue Playing Fields.

Cllr Wyatt has had assurance that both of these area’s WILL NOT  be included. The Officers say they simply just highlighted the area not realising they had included both the Rugby Club and the Playing Field.

Cllr Michael Wyatt will be keeping a close eye of the details of the final recommendations to make sure these area’s are not included.

New traffic system at Stephenson Way/Broom Leys Road cross roads gets the thumbs down!

The Leicestershire County Highway Officers have produced changes to the crossing system at the a511 Stephenson Way cross roads, which will mean traffic travelling north will not be able to turn left, or traffic wanting to turn right when travelling south will not be able to due to the changes being put forward.

Your Local Cllrs have already consulted over 50 local residents, everyone as said that the new system will create additional traffic having to travel through Coalville.

Cllr Julie Roberts said, “This new system is crazy a waste taxpayers money, and forcing even more traffic through Coalville. The whole point of the by-pass being built was to take traffic away from Coalville! The easiest and cheapest way to solve this problem is a four way crossing. We will be writing to the County Highway Officers and local residents urging them to oppose the changes.”

Local councillors have contacted officers to see why demolition work at the Cocked Hat on Cropston Drive has come to a stand still. The tiles on the roof have been removed and a container as been put on site over two weeks ago, but no other work as been started to clear the site. Cllr Julie Roberts is now demanding to know when the site will be made safe and cleared.

Cllr Julie Roberts said, “The former public house on Cropston Drive is becoming even more dangerous. The demolition of the pub should of been completed weeks ago but we are still waiting. We have contacted officers at the Council to chase the owners and demand action is taken as soon as possible.”

Your Local Liberal Democrat Councillors will continue to keep you updated.
