Pre-9.30am Concessionary Travel for over 60’s
The Liberal Democrats have once again called upon the Tory Bosses on the District Council to reconsider their objections in giving our pensioners their right to concessionary travel before 9.30am. The Liberal Democrat Councillors on the District put forward in their budget £17,000 to cover the cost of pensioners travelling by concessionary travel before 9.30am.
Tory, Labour and the fascist BNP voted against giving our pensioners their right to travel before 9.30am. Only the Liberal Democrats spoke out against the continuing raw deal our over 60’s are getting from the Tory controlled Council.
Cllr Michael Wyatt put forward the proposal to fund the pre-9.30 concessionary travel by introducing parking charges for staff, who currently park free while everyone else pays.
Michael Wyatt said “Its was disgraceful when the Labour Bosses refused to allow our pensioners to travel before 9.30am. Now the Tories are in control they have decided to continue Labour’s appalling policy, treating our pensioners like second class citizens. North West Leicestershire is the only authority in Leicestershire not giving our pensioners an opportunity to use their concessionary travel before 9.30am”.
The Liberal Democrats will continue to push for the pre-9.30am concessionary travel for our pensioners.
