Coalville Market to be scrutinised.
Cllr Michael Wyatt has requested the decision of the future of the Coalville Market be discussed by scrutiny members, so elected members can look at the reasoning behind their decision to close the current Market Hall.
Councillor Wyatt’s decision to have this item included at tonight’s scrutiny meeting was due his concerns over the lack of consultation, and the failure by the council to bring to light the concerns of the viability of the Market to scrutiny members.
Cllr Michael Wyatt said, “I asked for this to be bought to members so we can ask questions relating to why they have failed to make us aware of the problems surrounding the viability of the Market before now.
Taking such a drastic decision to move the Market should of been discussed much earlier, and elected councillors should of been given an opportunity to see what action, if any could of been taken to avoid the closure of the current Market Hall”.
